Algo Trend Trader

With Algo Trend Trader, you trade 11 markets, once a week, every Monday morning before the ASX opens.

The aim is to keep you on the right side of the trend in these markets — to ride stocks to their peaks and either short or avoid the troughs — and get a genuine institutional-like edge in your own private trading.

What’s the advantage of Algo Trend Trader?

Well, here’s a few questions…

How much money did you lose in the 2008 market panic? How about the 2000 ‘tech wreck’? Or 1987’s huge one day drop?

What if you could have not only avoided those crashes…but profited from them instead?

Turns out, the secret is surprisingly simple.

You find a system that not only keeps you in the market during the good years — but helps you avoid the bad times.

That’s what the Algo Trend Trader algorithm is designed to do.

It was designed and developed by former Morgan Stanley ‘quant’ Tom Meyer. Quant trading involves building complex mathematical systems that help you make quick decisions. You feed data in. The system crunches the numbers and spits out a signal. You follow it regardless of how you may be feeling.

That’s important to your success with this system. Quant trading only works if you’re willing to trust the system and allow it to guide you. Once you hit the system override button and ignore what it’s telling you, you introduce emotions to the mix — which is dangerous.

More good news: by building a system you can test the strength of your algorithm. You can go back and find out what it would have told you to do in past situations. Although past performances are not necessarily a guide to future results, you can quantify whether your system really could work in highly charged emotional situations…or not.

That’s what Algo Trend Trader is all about.

It measures the ‘mood’ of each of our 11 markets, then simply tells you to do one of three things, every Monday morning before the ASX opens:

  1. Go long
  2. Sell and go to cash
  3. Go short

That’s it.

Three decisions. No emotion. Just action.

Tom Meyer is a former manager in the Morgan Stanley system. In 2000, he met the software engineer behind one of the first algorithmic-based trading programs. That prompted Tom to leave Wall Street. He began collaborating with his software contacts and others who believed sophisticated algorithms were the future of trading stocks.
